In house PERC training course at Boliden, Sweden 20-21 October

Alastair Moyes and Ed Sides presented a customised training course (in hybrid format) on the PERC Reporting Standard to Boliden technical staf in the historic Boliden mine ofice from 20-21 October 2025. An enthusiastic group of 15 Boliden staf was present in person (see photo) with around 20 others participating on-line.

The course presented in Boliden was a customised version of the content of other courses presented by PERC previously, supplemented by additional detail on topics that were of particular interest to Boliden’s technical team.

PERC Workshop at IPGC 2025 _ Zaragoza, Spain 5-Nov-2025

Title: The role of professional geologists in mineral assessment and reporting

Date and time: 5th November from 10:30 to 13:00

Description:

Professional geologists working in the minerals sector often have very diferent roles and responsibilities depending on whether they work for government organisations or mining companies. In this workshop, we will explain the overall context of mineral resource assessment and the diferent types of reporting that are required for diferent stakeholders, including professionals acting as Competent Persons for PERC Reporting or as Qualified Experts for UNFC classification.

PERC Training course held in Meggen, Germany, 12 September 2025

On 12 September 2025, a PERC Training Course was held as part of the 11th Meggen Raw Materials Days, focusing on the topic: “UNFC and the PERC Reporting Standard: Complementary use in the assessment and reporting of mineral projects.”

The course was delivered by Antonio Maldonado (PERC), Antje Wittenberg (BGR – German Geological Survey), and Janne Hokka (GTK – Finnish Geological Survey, participating remotely), and generated strong interest among professionals in the field. It gathered 20 participants in person, including 12 participants holding the EuroGeol qualification, representing a broad range of organisations from the German mining sector. In addition, attendees joined from other European countries such as Norway, the Czech Republic, Estonia, and Spain, highlighting the international and collaborative nature of the event.

Online self-paced training

Last month the first online self-paced PERC course was launched by the EFG Academy based on a hybrid course presented by Dr. Edmund Sides in Belgrade in 2023. For further details and to register for this course, please use the link provided below.

We plan to update this course and develop additional online self-paced training in the future.

 

Upcoming online live training

An updated version of the popular PERC-GSL online training course providing introduction to the CRIRSCO family of Reporting Codes and the PERC Reporting Standard will be held in February-March 2026. The course will run from Thursday 5th February to Thursday 26th March 2026 and will comprise eight weekly, 1.5 hour sessions. Earlier versions of this course were run in 2022 and 2024.
